More than five thousand dollars has been granted to the Braidwood RSL sub-branch for new developments at the Braidwood War Memorial.

A semi-circular wall will be constructed from blue granite stone in two parts, with a bisecting path.

Member for Monaro, John Barilaro, is welcoming the development, saying that it's vital we retain and protect these memorials for future generations.

He's anticipating that the Braidwood developments will be completed ahead of the centenary of ANZAC celebrations in 2014.

The Snowy Ride is upon us, and more than three thousand motorcycle riders will be touring around the region over the weekend, all in support of finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Locals can get involved through donating or buying raffles tickets at any of the ride's checkpoints or by heading to the ride's website.

Susan Walter is one of the organisers of the ride, and the founder of the Steven Walter Children's Cancer Foundation.

Susan's thanking the local community for it's support over the past 12 years of the Ride.

The Royal Australian Historical Society has awarded the Snowy Alpine Heritage Association a grant of a thousand dollars, for research into local men who took part in the 1916 Men from Snowy River March.

Local historian, Dr. Rosemary Stewart-Beardsley, is encouraging anyone with information on ancestors who took part in the march to get in touch, and it's anticipated that this information will then be published in time for the World War One centenary in 2014.

The Delegate Progress Association are undertaking a similar project, and Dr. Stewart-Beardsley says that the groups are cooperating.
