After a working bee over the weekend, Jindabyne's community garden is well and truly underway.

More than 25 people turned out to help organisers in the first round of planting fruits and vegetables, and the Community Garden Committee is calling it a great success.

Ultimately, the garden will feature as an educational tool for young locals to learn about permaculture and healthy eating, and Committee President Margaret Chalk says locals should have an opportunity to sample some of the produce come harvest time, early next year.

Landholders and residents from across the Snowy Mountains-Monaro region are being encouraged to have their say on recently revealed Local Land Service boundaries.

The new boundaries are set to determine the operational areas of the different branches of the new Local Land Service, which is set to replace Catchment Management Authorities and the LHPA, as well as incorporate some services that were previously handled by Agriculture NSW.

Under the new boundaries, the Monaro and the High Country is classified as part of the Southern Tablelands, and the new maps can be viewed on the government 'Have Your Say' website.

Chair of the LLS Stakeholder Reference Panel, Dr. John Keniry, says that they're encouraging feedback in order to fine-tune the boundary lines.

A community garden in Jindabyne gets underway this week, and all community members are invited to come along and help out with planting this weekend.

The garden is set to feature a wide variety of edible plants, from fruit and vegetables to nuts, and it's intended to act as an educational tool for young Snowy locals to get into gardening and healthy eating.

Health Promotions Officer from the Snowy River Shire Council, Lee Brulisauer, says that anyone can get involved by taking their tools along to the Jindabyne Oval from 9am this Saturday morning.
