A local risk plan will shortly be released to the public for consultation and submission, as nearby pine plantations pose a fire risk close to Bombala.
The forests are failed managed investments, fire trails have not been maintained and heavy rains have led to widespread grass growth, which only increases the risk of fire.
The RFS are also to advise and guide owners of the plantations as to correct management strategies in an effort to minimise the hazards.
