Residents across the Monaro are being encouraged to keep an eye out for big trees.

The National Register of Big Trees is a database of large trees across Australia, seeking to find prime examples of large trees of all different species.

Anyone is encouraged to submit examples of big trees that they find via the register's website, nationalregisterofbigtrees.com.au

Register Coordinator Derek McIntosh says that residents in Cooma have some fantastic examples, including a very large Elm in Centennial park.
