A Jindabyne man and his two daughters are dead following a crash on the Kings Highway on Friday afternoon, east of Braidwood.
Local musician Brian Burdett, known as Birdy, was driving when his station wagon crossed to the other side of the road and collided with a four wheel drive travelling in the opposite direction.
The four occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Canberra Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Less than 72 hours later another two people were killed in a single vehicle crash less than ten kilometers away on the same stretch of highway, when their car left the road and collided with a tree.
They are believed to have been Chinese nationals studying in Canberra.
A third occupant of the vehicle was airlifted to Canberra Hospital with abdominal injuries.
Police are saying that excessive speed was a factor in both crashes.
