Member for Monaro John Barilaro has continued to applaud the efforts of locals recognised at the recent Monaro Service Awards.

Cooma local Narelle Holcomb took part in the Lions Club's Save Sight Challenge, which saw her publish a cook book, organise a trivia night and run a cake stall.

She had also raised more than $4,500 by the end of the challenge.

Mr Barilaro says Narelle is one of Cooma's most dedicated residents, and when she is given a challenge she gets to work and succeeds.

He says she is a passionate and caring member of the community, and is truly deserving of a Monaro Service Award.

Ceremonies were held recently in Cooma and Queanbeyan.
