The Bushfire Danger Period will start across the Monaro this Sunday.

The Bush Fire Danger Period runs until the 31st of March, however it may vary due to local conditions.

If locals are planning to light a fire in the open during this time, a Fire Permit is required.

The RFS say just because it's the Bush Fire Danger Period doesn't mean you can't use fire - but there are restrictions to ensure fire is used safely.

Locals can get a permit by Contact their local Fire Control Center or Brigade Captain.

There are heavy penalties if restrictions or rules are broken.
