The Bureau of Meteorology have issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds for people in parts of the Snowy Mountains.

Vigorous west to southwesterly winds are expected over the far southern NSW coast and adjacent ranges today with the passage of a front.

Damaging winds, possibly averaging above 60 km/h with peak gusts of around 90km/h are forecast to develop early this morning.

Winds are expected to ease tonight.

The SES advises people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees and secure or put away loose items around the house, yard and balcony.
