On Saturday The Snowy Monaro Local Recue Committee decided to conduct a full Marine Search & Rescue Exercise on Lake Jindabyne.

In light of recent water related drownings in NSW the aim of the exercise was to test the control and coordination of emergency services.

The scenario they tested was a significant accident between two boats leading to multiple casualties, in the boats, in the water and missing.

In the scenario they also added the identification of Hazardous materials which required the intervention of Fire & Rescue NSW to render safe and perform decontamination of victims involved in the collision.

The exercise brought together Monaro LAC Police from Jindabyne and Cooma, a search coordinator from Police Marine Area Command, Ambulance, SES, Marine Rescue, Rural Fire Service and Snowy Monaro Regional Council.
