Malcolm Turnbull will take a trip to the region today where he is expected to make an announcement regarding a $2 billion dollar expansion plan of the Snowy Hydro scheme.
The expected $2 billion project would include no new dams, but a new series of tunnels and power stations.
Member for Eden Monaro Dr Mike Kelly says during the last heatwave of NSW it was the Snowy Hydro scheme that kept the power going.
With thousand of jobs expected, local residents have already expressed concern over housing demand and affordability.
Administrator for council Dean Lynch says there is available land, however there will some housing issues.
